RB Power &
Sailing has been requested to build a Tiki 38 based on the well known and
appreciated design of James Wharram.
During the construction, the owner of the project, an Australian gentleman,
decided to deeply modify the structure, redesign the hulls and building in
cedar strip planking instead of plywood as foreseen by the original plans.
The boat has
been completed with honeycomb decks, honeycomb sandwich interior and
furniture.
The final
result is a much lighter vessel, that is floating about 5 inches above the
expected designed waterline.
This
construction has been an experiment and a "one of a kind" project for the
Yard.
